I read a quote the other day that really connected with me…”Change is unavoidable, growth is optional.”
I like this quote on many levels…From a business perspective, it has strong relevance to our current situation at Serac Solutions. Technology is advancing and client needs are evolving. We won’t continue to succeed by doing the same things the same way.
We are actively pursing and embracing new technologies at our company. One example is our work in SAP and the SAP Cloud. We are developing an Electronic Equipment Use log built on the SAP HANA engine. We are in the final stages of development and testing, and look forward to listing in the SAP App Center next quarter! Our work in SAP represents a significant investment in time, money, and personnel, and is a key component of our future technology plan.
We also need to grow at Serac by maturing our processes and better defining our structure. We took a step forward this week by defining a set of Communications Policies built around Basecamp. We have been using Basecamp software as a team/project platform for over a year, but the implementation has been somewhat loose. The first step was to formalize the use of 3 weekly check-ins aimed at sharing successes, challenges, and questions across the company.
Finally, we intend to continue focusing on our people and building a world class team. This means fostering the skills and talents of our current team members, and also looking outside for fresh perspectives.
I am glad to be on this journey of growth with the Serac team. I am confident we’ll adapt and succeed in this changing landscape, and that we’ll have some fun along the way!
